wrap-up Thursday
September 11, 2008
Scholars,
We’ll finish up talking about consciousness today. Then we can look at our online booksite and make sure everyone is on the same page with testing. I believe I have created yoru first exam for next tuesday at 2:20p.m.
I will try to make a practice quiz just like it so we can see how it works in class this afternoon. We may also add the twitter application to facebook and practice tweeting.
Finishing up for the summer
June 25, 2008
Hello Scholars,
I just got back from the family trip to the beach (if you had been in class and listening you would have know this and wouldn’t be emailing me everyday about grades). The grades are looking pretty good and should be in the system with in the next few days.
Unfortunately, one person took the exam on a strange computer in a strange place and it kicked them off half-way through… this means (if I am a nice guy) that I will make them up a new final exam and have them come in to the university and take it which sets us back a few days.
I’m also planning on reviewing the bad questions (or rather bad scoring key) and tossing everyone some points to make up for it… I’m thinking the grades are going to be really good. A large number of people in the class have A’s already, without the points. I, of course, give myself full credit for setting up a learning environment that takes advantage of the way your brain works.
Those of you that played along will be positively reinforced. I encourage you to keep up the tricks I shared with you
Don’t forget to come and visit and say hi when you see me wandering around campus… it was a really fun summer.
Intro Psych Test Day
May 28, 2008
Scholars,
I have your exam set up in VISTA. It is hidden now, but will become visible at 3:00 p.m. You will find it between the quiz 3 and 4 links below the blog feed. You will have 75 minutes to complete the exam and submit it. You may use your book and notes. You MAY NOT use other people. This is a learning experience for you.
At 4:30 we will convene in our classroom and take a collaborative exam. I will explain everything about it there. Be sure and wear cool clothing and bring some water. The air is being replace (thus another large crane on campus putting air units on top of Dunlap Hall).
If you don’t see the test after 3 this afternoon, try refreshing the page or logging in again.

Intro Psych Exams for Module #1
February 11, 2008
I think almost everyone did really well for a first exam… It’s always hard when you don’t know what to expect from me. Scores usually go up for later tests. The collaborative exams were really good!
The average score was a 68 and some change with a standard deviation of a little over 8 (M=68.45, SD=8.21)
Remember your individual exam is worth 75% and your group exam is worth 25%… so
(ind exam * .75)+(grp exam * .25) = your grade
The cut-offs should look something like:
D 58-60
C 63-72
B 73-76
A 76.75 +
