Twitter Tools for Beginners: Get Started Quickly

Next week we will learn to talk to everyone at the same time using Tweetparty, I’ll set it up for us after you start to follow me. Our Hashtag will be #Fresh (short for freshmen)

Today in INtro Psych

May 19, 2008

We will dive into and try to complete what is psych and research methods today. Come energized (read coffee or tea) and dress comfortably. You never know if the room will be blazing hot or icy cold in the summer… I suggest layers over your favorite t-shirt.

Hello Intro Psych Scholars,

Just sending out a reminder note (we’ve added several extra students since Monday).

We are not having class today… I just can’t make it back from my
conference. I want you guys to get the text and start reading. I know
that will be strange, but it will benefit you.

Here are two important links, one to my website and another to my blog… save these links.

Best, Chuck

P.S. I haven’t done anything in VISTA yet… when I do I will post a note on the blog.

Hello Scholars,

By now Dr. Lloyd has told you I’m down in South Georgia. I can’t believe how lucky you all got today… normally I would talk to you for 3.5 hours without taking a breath ;-)

I am going to share some links with you that you will need.

My homepage (look at the classes info page for syllabus, outline, and podcasting URL)

…and of course this is my blog. Check here often (I’d suggest you aggregate the feed… Huh?)

We are not going as wide as normal this summer, but what we do cover we will cover deeply.

Best, prof_chuck

P.S. I think that Brad at Dorks has some used copies of our text. Start reading it… don’t waste this week… use it to get ahead and be successful this summer. I will see you on Monday.

P.P.S. take a look at this before we get back together. Complete it.

Intro Scholars,

Remember today is a reading day becasue I am going to make a presentation this afternoon at a CE conference. Use your time wisely to get a jump start on the learning material. You might even want to download a podcast and then you can compare my lectures to those of folks from Berkley, MIT, etc. Just search for psychology and learning on iTunes.

In addition, sign up for BATTLE OF THE SEXES this Thursday. I will pay for one girls team and one boys team from my class. The first ones to contact me get my $10. (I’d also like to see the Sigma Chi guys have a team, I’ll put one in for you guys too… if you can get enough people together). Remember the prize is $100, that’s a lot of cash in pocket for a Thursday night ;-)

Are you a genius at sexual and gender differences? Do you like to laugh? Do you want to help animals?

Then you need to get a team together for the Battle of the Sexes! The winner gets a cash prize of $100.

________

Thursday March 13th, 7 p.m. in Hoag

You can have 2-6 people on your team ($10 entry fee per team)

All of our profits will go toward building a cat house at PAWS. We want to build a structure so the cats and kittens can get outside and be adopted.

I’d also like to invite you all to a research colloquium this
afternoon. Dr. Kevin Vagi will be presenting his research in the area
of child development. We will get together at 1:30 pm in Dunlap 320. I
hope to see some of you there.

I am still a little embarrassed… I should have look more carefully at the exam before I sent it off to the copy machine.

Let’s try it again today. I am setting aside several hours this morning to fight with the printer ;-)

I may try to do a brief introduction to neuro on Wednesday, then have you guys do the group exam. Alternatively, I might do some memory stuff, because I really want you guys to understand how my testing scheme aids your learning. Perhaps get it in early enough in the semester to help you.

See you this afternoon. Stay Dry.

Just passing the info along… some of you should definitely give this a try…
