..tomorrow we are having our hybrid class time. You should use this time to read your textbook and practice using the tools on the website. Take some quizzes and see where you stand on the material.

Here is the link from my website that takes you to our tentative class schedule for the semester.

Other material like our syllabus is also linked up from my website here.

Intro Psych Scholars,

We’ll be going over how to log into your book’s site today. Bring your access codes with you and one lucky winner will get to sign-up in front of the class.

You can find the book site here: Myers in Modules 8e

Out class is titled, Intro Psych with prof_chuck, make sure you pick it and not last years course.

For our first test you should be reading the Introduction and Appendix A, followed by Modules 1, 2, 3, 18, 19, and 20. You have quizzes available for the six modules, but not for the introduction or appendix. Use them to get ready for the exam. They should be completed before our test on January 30th if they are to be of any use to your success.

wrap-up Thursday

September 11, 2008

Scholars,

We’ll finish up talking about consciousness today. Then we can look at our online booksite and make sure everyone is on the same page with testing. I believe I have created yoru first exam for next tuesday at 2:20p.m.

I will try to make a practice quiz just like it so we can see how it works in class this afternoon. We may also add the twitter application to facebook and practice tweeting.

twitter & UNIV 1000

September 2, 2008

We will finish our module early today and then focus on UNIV 1000 stuff, specifically twitter. We really need to start building some relationships.

Finally getting started

August 26, 2008

Hello Learning Community Scholars,

Looks like we will finally get started on some psycho content today.

Be reading the modules for our first unit of material. Be sure to aggregate our podcast for psychology.

In addition, don’t forget to acquire a twitter account and share your account info on our UNIV1000 blog as a comment.

Hello Scholars,

I just got back from the family trip to the beach (if you had been in class and listening you would have know this and wouldn’t be emailing me everyday about grades). The grades are looking pretty good and should be in the system with in the next few days.

Unfortunately, one person took the exam on a strange computer in a strange place and it kicked them off half-way through… this means (if I am a nice guy) that I will make them up a new final exam and have them come in to the university and take it which sets us back a few days.

I’m also planning on reviewing the bad questions (or rather bad scoring key) and tossing everyone some points to make up for it… I’m thinking the grades are going to be really good. A large number of people in the class have A’s already, without the points. I, of course, give myself full credit for setting up a learning environment that takes advantage of the way your brain works. ;-) Those of you that played along will be positively reinforced. I encourage you to keep up the tricks I shared with you

Don’t forget to come and visit and say hi when you see me wandering around campus… it was a really fun summer.

The grades were great again. How’d you guys like the collab exam. I was just checking to see if you were paying attention and you were. ;-)

If any of the database questions got screwed up again this go around, please share with everyone by using the comment function on this post. Make a complete argument and explain why so that the knowledge will stay with you… you shoudl see your grades in VISTA.

IS ANYONE ALLERGIC TO DOGS? We might have a visitor today for our learning class.

See everyone at 3.

Intro Psych Test Day

May 28, 2008

Scholars,

I have your exam set up in VISTA. It is hidden now, but will become visible at 3:00 p.m. You will find it between the quiz 3 and 4 links below the blog feed. You will have 75 minutes to complete the exam and submit it. You may use your book and notes. You MAY NOT use other people. This is a learning experience for you.

At 4:30 we will convene in our classroom and take a collaborative exam. I will explain everything about it there. Be sure and wear cool clothing and bring some water. The air is being replace (thus another large crane on campus putting air units on top of Dunlap Hall).

If you don’t see the test after 3 this afternoon, try refreshing the page or logging in again.

Hello Scholars,Today we will finish your introduction to psychology and talk a bit about the concept of consciousness. I believe you will enjoy it (at least the consciousness part).

I’d also like to take a few minutes to get to know each other at the beginning of class. Who are you guys exactly and how can I help you understand your brain better?

We’ll also take time to answer questions and talk about our first exam.
